FAQs
ARTWORK
Your artwork should be uploaded as a PNG. Artwork should be a minimum of 300dpi (the higher the resolution, the
better quality of print). If you wish to have a transparent background on your artwork, please provide it that way.
All gang sheets uploaded need to be uploaded with a transparent background.
Please make sure that your artwork does not have large empty spaces around it as that is included when changing the size in the gang builder so the final image will not be the size you were hoping for …
Any size up to a max of 58cm wide. As a rule of thumb, pocket area prints are generally 10x10cm.
Letterbox prints (rectangle) are 28cm wide by 10cm high and large prints 28cm x 28cm … but the beauty of DTF is you can scale your prints to fit any size of garment.
Yes we can. They look amazing. Make sure to provide 300dpi high resolution photos.
The quality may not look great. If your artwork is low resolution, and it’s pixelated or has areas of opacity (semi-transparent pixels) the design will have more white added, which will affect the colours and white will peak outside of the edges of the artwork.
No, if you supply good quality high resolution artwork (300dpi) there will not be white peeking out.
No, unfortunately, it doesn't work like that.
Changing the resolution, say from 72 dpi to 300dpi in your editing software does not make the artwork 300dpi. The quality of the image does not really improve.
It is important to note that if the artwork is of poor quality, or if the artwork has semi-transparent or translucent pixels it will be blurry/pixelated when printed and it could result in the white underbase showing.
We can size your artwork for you but there will be a small artwork fee for this … or you can resize it yourself in an image editing software, if you don’t have access to editing software like Photoshop, we recommend Photopea as it is a free online app similar to Photoshop.
In one word no, due to the way in which a DTF printer prints, as every pixel is printed and then an underbase white background is printed over it ... For this reason you need to ensure that your background is 100% transparent. If you are looking for ways to keep the fadeout/shadow we recommend halftoning your designs.
QUANTITY AND SIZES
That depends on your artwork size. Before you create your sheets and pay, you may want to get a quote or work out
if it is within your budget....
You can use our nifty cost calculator to work it out.
Some examples:
You can get 175, 10cm x 10cm pocket area prints on 2 square metres.
You can get 68, 28cm x 10cm letterbox prints on 2 square metres.
You can get 24, 28cm x 28cm prints on 2 square metres.
We print on rolls of film not sheets. We can print any size of artwork and up to a max width of 58cm. A4 and A3 sizes are used by hobbyist printers.
Our MOQ is 182cm for DTF Transfers and 91cm for UV Transfers.
COLOURS
DTF printers use a CMYK colour model …
Your computer screen and artwork software like Photoshop use RGB and their own colour profile …
Every
single computer screen is different and will display colours differently.
All of our printers are colour calibrated
using a I1 Publisher Pro 3 spectrophotometer. The profile we use can take RGB and convert it to the closest CMYK match.
While our colour profile is very accurate, we do not make any guarantees that it will match the exact colour you are expecting unless a colour matching service has been purchased.
Yes, we can for a small fee …
You will need to physically send us a reference to colour match to. It can be a garment or colour swatch. Fee: $30.
Yes, we can send you a colour swatch for a small fee of $30. The colour swatch will give you a very wide spectrum
of different colours for you to use and match colours. You will also receive an electronic version for you to colour
pick from within your image editing software.

ORDERING
It's a predefined canvas size that all your artwork is provided on.
Example 58cm wide x 91cm high or 58cm wide x 182cm high.
Our turnaround time is 24 hours from payment and artwork approval.
Our 24 hour turnaround starts from when your artwork is approved by our team for printing.
Once you place your order, it is placed in the queue for artwork approval. All orders are dealt with in numerical order so all orders placed before yours will need to be approved first.
Any orders placed after 3pm on Friday until 8am Monday will be checked as quickly as possible by our team on Monday. Due to the sheer volume of orders placed over this time the artwork approval queue can take a little longer on a Monday.
Also, orders placed after 4pm on a business day will be placed in the queue for artwork approval the next business day.
Please bear in mind that while we print your order within 24 hours of artwork approval we cannot guarantee that it will be dispatched immediately as our couriers collect our packages before 2pm (business days). We will however dispatch it as quickly as possible and it will be collected with the next scheduled courier pick up.
Once you have placed your order, if it is during business hours (8am - 4pm) it will be placed into the queue for
artwork approval. If you have placed your order outside of business hours it will be placed into the artwork
approval queue the very next business day. Our team works tirelessly checking artwork and letting customers know if
there is an issue, so if you don’t hear from us, check your spam folder (we sometimes end up in there, so make sure
to whitelist our emails).
Once your artwork is approved it will be placed in the queue to be made print-ready, this involves quite a few steps …
Our 4 graphic designers are perfectionists and take the time to make sure your artwork is on point and ready to be printed.
Once your artwork is print-ready it is placed in the queue for printing by our ganging team.
Printing is the exciting part of the process and it is where we get to see your artwork come to life. We have 4 commercial large format DTF Heat Transfer printers and one large format UV DTF Transfer printer. These printers run from 6am-2pm daily. We have 3 print operators, who manage to print between 500 and 600m a day.

PRINTERS AND CONSUMABLES
We use commercially built industrial DTF wide format printers for both our UV DTF and our DTF Heat Transfers. They all have 4 print heads and allow us to print amazing quality. Four head printers print extremely fast, which helps us keep a good turnaround time.
We use our own specialised ink, film and powder. We have tested just about every type of consumable and have
developed our own formulas. The combination of all 3 is why we have very resilient prints, with vibrant colours that
feel very soft to the touch.
DTF Heat Transfer ink is water-based (but does not wash out). Our ink formula is super vibrant and can do bright colours.
Our DTF Heat Transfers come on double sided matt film, which is hot peel and is super easy to peel.
Our adhesive powder is super stretchy and produces a very soft feel.
APPLICATION AND CARE FOR DTF HEAT TRANSFERS
Our transfers only need 6-12 seconds to apply. Different materials will need a different heat, time and
pressure.
Cotton - 150c, 10-12 seconds press and 90PSI pressure.
Poly - 130c 8-10 seconds press and 90PSI pressure.
Neoprene - 110c 6-8 seconds press and 90PSI pressure.
The quick answer is no, we don’t recommend using an iron as it does not apply evenly distributed heat and pressure
which will definitely affect the longevity of the transfers.
You need both pressure and even heat to correctly activate the adhesive so that it adheres to the substrate.
No … but our UV DTF Transfers can.
All textiles: cotton, poly, blends, canvas, hessian, leather, leatherette, denim and neoprene. Wood, MDF and cardboard.
This is 9 times out of 10 an issue with pressure, either too little or too much pressure is being applied or the
pressure being applied is uneven.
Increase your pressure or if there are buttons, seams or zips making the surface uneven using a heat press pillow will help.
Want to know how to check your pressure is high enough … watch the video here where John shows you how to test your pressure.
Use a cool wash (30-40C) or even a cold wash and use medium washing cycles (600-800 rpm). In addition, washing
programs of smaller times (30 min to an hour) are recommended.
- Use mild detergents and little to no softener.
- Avoid washing the garments again right after washing them.
- Line dry inside out.
- Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach.
- Do NOT tumble dry.
- Do NOT iron the print.
Do not wash within 24-36 hours of pressing.
We don't have a specific brand that we recommend but here are some things to look for when purchasing a heat press
...
1. Heat Distribution Across the Platen
Your machine needs to be able to provide consistent, even temperatures across the platen. One of the most common problems with cheaper heat presses is that they do not manage heat distribution very well.
2. Accurate Temperature
Heat press machines are so much better than irons, due to the fact that you can actually set and control their temperature.
When you apply the transfer, it is essential to have the correct temperature settings in order to press a heat transfer successfully.
Of course, more expensive heat press machines typically have more reliable and accurate temperature readings.
3. Even Pressure
You want a heat press that has centralised pressure adjustment, together with a flotational heat platen.
We personally prefer swing-away heat presses due to their ability to handle pressure a lot better in comparison to the clamshell-type machines, but clamshell presses can still do the job.
Pneumatic heat presses are pricier but they allow you to control your pressure more accurately and that is usually the biggest issue we have with presses is working out the correct pressure when the pressure is adjusted manually.
4. Easy to Open and Close
You want a machine that opens in a smooth and fluid motion. An easy-to-open press is even more important if you are producing custom shirts on a daily basis.
5. Digital Time and Temperature
Cheaper heat presses rely on manual or bell timers. They also typically have a dial thermostat.
Whilst this is perfectly fine if you are only using it occasionally, you would want a digital time and temperature control panel for heavier workloads.
Digital settings are also great as you can input your desired settings and use them time and time again.
6. Easy-to-Position Garment
How easily can you place your garment on your heat press? How easy is it to work with precision placement?
7. Platen Size
We would recommend you purchase the largest size platen you can (40 x 50cm is ideal).
8. Warranty
Ensure that you have a look at the length of the warranty that comes with your heat press.
9. Customer Service
What sort of customer service is available for the brand of heat press that you are looking to purchase. If anything goes wrong with the press, you want to know that there is a qualified service representative available to help.
Unfortunately, manufacturers use a variety of chemicals to make garments water and wind resistant and these chemicals often react with water based inks adversely. Our transfers have worked on multiple fabrics but we always suggest testing them first on any fabric that has resistant properties as they may cause issues.
Yes, but as always we recommend you test it out for different sublimated products. With sublimation there may be
some dye migration. Our transfers have additional white underbase to help prevent this happening but it may still
occur.
When pressing on sublimated synthetic fabrics we recommend dropping the temp slightly to 120C-130C.
