FAQs

ARTWORK

Your artwork should be uploaded as a PNG. Artwork should be a minimum of 300dpi (the higher the resolution, the better quality of print). If you wish to have a transparent background on your artwork, please provide it that way. All gang sheets uploaded need to be uploaded with a transparent background.

Please make sure that your artwork does not have large empty spaces around it as that is included when changing the size in the gang builder so the final image will not be the size you were hoping for …

Any size up to a max of 58cm wide. As a rule of thumb, pocket area prints are generally 10x10cm.

Letterbox prints (rectangle) are 28cm wide by 10cm high and large prints 28cm x 28cm … but the beauty of DTF is you can scale your prints to fit any size of garment.

Yes, we can print quite fine detail but fine strokes < 0.8 mm have a greater risk of missing ink, weak adhesion, or breakage during peeling.

For text we recommend using sans-serif fonts above 8pt size; avoid thin script fonts.

We recommend details are a minimum of 0.8-1mm in thickness

Yes we can. They look amazing. Make sure to provide 300dpi high resolution photos.

The quality may not look great. If your artwork is low resolution, and it’s pixelated or has areas of opacity (semi-transparent pixels) the design will have more white added, which will affect the colours and white will peak outside of the edges of the artwork.

No, if you supply good quality high resolution artwork (300dpi) there will not be white peeking out.

No, unfortunately, it doesn't work like that.

Changing the resolution, say from 72 dpi to 300dpi in your editing software does not make the artwork 300dpi. The quality of the image does not really improve.

It is important to note that if the artwork is of poor quality, or if the artwork has semi-transparent or translucent pixels it will be blurry/pixelated when printed and it could result in the white underbase showing.

Often we can fix or recreate your artwork for you, there will be a small artwork fee for this …

You will be sent a link to download and approve the updated artwork. Once you have approved it you can create a new order or update your current order with your new artwork.

We can size your artwork for you but there will be a small artwork fee for this … or you can resize it yourself in an image editing software, if you don’t have access to editing software like Photoshop, we recommend Photopea as it is a free online app similar to Photoshop.

In one word no, due to the way in which a DTF printer prints, as every pixel is printed and then an underbase white background is printed over it ... For this reason you need to ensure that your background is 100% transparent. If you are looking for ways to keep the fadeout/shadow we recommend halftoning your designs.

QUANTITY AND SIZES

That depends on your artwork size. Before you create your sheets and pay, you may want to get a quote or work out if it is within your budget....

You can use our nifty cost calculator to work it out.

Some examples:
You can get 175, 10cm x 10cm pocket area prints on 2 square metres.
You can get 68, 28cm x 10cm letterbox prints on 2 square metres.
You can get 24, 28cm x 28cm prints on 2 square metres.

We print on rolls of film not sheets. We can print any size of artwork and up to a max width of 58cm. A4 and A3 sizes are used by hobbyist printers.

Our MOQ is 182cm for DTF Transfers and 91cm for UV Transfers.

COLOURS

Our DTF printers use a CMYK colour model … Your computer screen and artwork software like Photoshop use RGB and their own colour profile …

Every single computer screen is different and will display colours differently.

All of our printers are colour calibrated using a I1 Publisher Pro 3 spectrophotometer. The profile we use can take RGB and convert it to the closest CMYK match and it is then printed using CMYKW ORGB inks.

While our colour profile is very accurate, we do not make any guarantees that it will match the exact colour you are expecting unless a colour matching service has been purchased.

Disclaimer:
Due to ongoing improvements in our printing equipment and colour calibration processes, reorders placed at a later date may show slight variations from previous prints. While we take every care to ensure consistency, we cannot guarantee exact colour replication unless specifically arranged and approved at the time of the original order.

Yes, we can for a small fee …

You will need to physically send us a reference to colour match to. It can be a physical item or a Pantone colour in our swatch. Fee: $30.

ORDERING

Our sample packs are designed to highlight the vibrancy of our transfers. When you place an order for samples, these are dispatched within 48 hours (excl. weekends) and they are sent, regular post via Aus Post with a tracking number.

It's a predefined canvas size that all your artwork is provided on.
Example 58cm wide x 91cm high or 58cm wide x 182cm high.

Our turnaround time is 24 hours from payment and artwork approval.

Our 24 hour turnaround starts from when your artwork is approved by our team for printing.

Once you place your order, it is placed in the Review Artwork Queue. All orders are dealt with in numerical order so all orders placed before yours will need to be reviewed first.

Any orders placed after 3pm on Friday until 8am Monday will be reviewed as quickly as possible by our team on Monday. Due to the sheer volume of orders placed over this time the artwork review queue can take a little longer on a Monday.

Also, orders placed after 4pm on a business day will be placed in the queue for review the next business day.

Please bear in mind that while we print your order within 24 hours of artwork approval we cannot guarantee that it will be dispatched immediately as our couriers collect our packages before 2pm (business days). We will however dispatch it as quickly as possible and it will be collected with the next scheduled courier pick up.

If you request that we do not review your artwork, your order will still need to go through our standard review process, and if it does not receive approval, your order cannot be printed.

We look for:
- Copyrighted or Trademarked Content without proper authorisation
- Pornographic Material
- Hate Speech or Content That Incites Violence
- Backgrounds across entire sheets

Once an order has been reviewed it is then made print ready which is when it receives final “approval” to print - at this stage it is placed onto the print queue.

Once you have placed your order, if it is during business hours (8am - 4pm) it will be placed into the Review Artwork Queue. If you have placed your order outside of business hours it will be placed into the review queue the very next business day. Our team works tirelessly checking artwork and letting customers know if there is an issue, so if you don’t hear from us, check your spam folder (we sometimes end up in there, so make sure to whitelist our emails).

Once your artwork is reviewed it will be placed in the queue to be made print-ready and receive approval to print, this involves quite a few steps …

Once your artwork is print-ready it is placed in the queue for printing by our ganging team.

Printing is the exciting part of the process and it is where we get to see your artwork come to life. We have 4 commercial large format DTF Heat Transfer printers and one large format UV DTF Transfer printer. These printers run from 6am-2pm daily. We have 3 print operators, who manage to print between 500 and 600m a day.

PRINTERS AND CONSUMABLES

We use commercially built industrial DTF wide format printers for both our UV DTF and our DTF Heat Transfers. They all have 6 print heads and allow us to print amazing quality. Six head printers print extremely fast, which helps us keep a good turnaround time.

We use our own specialised ink, film and powder. We have tested just about every type of consumable and have developed our own formulas. The combination of all 3 is why we have very resilient prints, with vibrant colours that feel very soft to the touch.

DTF Heat Transfer ink is water-based (but does not wash out). Our ink formula is super vibrant and can do bright colours.

Our DTF Heat Transfers come on double sided matt film, which is hot peel and is super easy to peel.

Our adhesive powder is super stretchy and produces a very soft feel.

We’re working toward a more sustainable future in garment decoration!

We understand the importance of reducing our environmental impact, and while DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing isn’t yet 100% biodegradable, we’ve taken several steps to make our processes more eco-conscious:

Our Current Sustainability Practices
Low-Waste Printing Process We maximise material use by offering gang sheet printing, which reduces film waste and unnecessary shipping.

Eco-Friendly Ink Options
Our DTF inks are water-based and free from harmful PVC and phthalates, making them safer for people and the planet.

Energy-Efficient Equipment
Our presses and shakers are chosen for their low energy consumption and high efficiency, minimizing power waste during production.

Film Disposal
While PET films are not biodegradable, we encourage recycling of used film carriers and are exploring future alternatives with compostable or recycled content bases.

Bulk Order Options to Minimise Packaging Waste
We offer larger print volumes that cut down on excess packaging and transport emissions.

Looking to the future:
We are actively researching and testing emerging biodegradable film technologies and bio-based adhesives that aim to reduce the environmental footprint of each transfer. While these are still developing across the industry, we’re committed to adopting them as soon as they meet our performance and quality standards.

APPLICATION AND CARE FOR DTF HEAT TRANSFERS

Our transfers only need 6-12 seconds to apply. Different materials will need a different heat, time and pressure.

Cotton - 150c, 10-12 seconds press and 90PSI pressure.
Poly - 130c 8-10 seconds press and 90PSI pressure.
Neoprene - 110c 6-8 seconds press and 90PSI pressure.

The quick answer is no, we don’t recommend using an iron as it does not apply evenly distributed heat and pressure which will definitely affect the longevity of the transfers.

You need both pressure and even heat to correctly activate the adhesive so that it adheres to the substrate.

No … but our UV DTF Transfers can.

All textiles: cotton, poly, blends, canvas, hessian, leather, leatherette, denim and neoprene. Wood, MDF and cardboard.

This is 9 times out of 10 an issue with pressure, either too little or too much pressure is being applied or the pressure being applied is uneven.

Increase your pressure or if there are buttons, seams or zips making the surface uneven using a heat press pillow will help.

Want to know how to check your pressure is high enough … watch the video here where John shows you how to test your pressure.

We recommend unrolling your transfers carefully, as we generally use warm peel film, this means the transfers may release more easily from the film, so small parts may peel off if handled too roughly.

Always store your transfers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Ideal Temperature - 18-24C
Ideal Humidity - <50%

Store transfers flat, not rolled, to avoid curling or warping.

We store our transfers in a sealed box with a reusable humidity bag.

Use a cool wash (30-40C) or even a cold wash and use medium washing cycles (600-800 rpm). In addition, washing programs of smaller times (30 min to an hour) are recommended.

- Use mild detergents and little to no softener.
- Avoid washing the garments again right after washing them.
- Line dry inside out.
- Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach.
- Do NOT tumble dry.
- Do NOT iron the print.

Do not wash within 24-36 hours of pressing.

We don't have a specific brand that we recommend but here are some things to look for when purchasing a heat press ...

1. Heat Distribution Across the Platen
Your machine needs to be able to provide consistent, even temperatures across the platen. One of the most common problems with cheaper heat presses is that they do not manage heat distribution very well.

2. Accurate Temperature
Heat press machines are so much better than irons, due to the fact that you can actually set and control their temperature.

When you apply the transfer, it is essential to have the correct temperature settings in order to press a heat transfer successfully.

Of course, more expensive heat press machines typically have more reliable and accurate temperature readings.

3. Even Pressure
You want a heat press that has centralised pressure adjustment, together with a flotational heat platen.

We personally prefer swing-away heat presses due to their ability to handle pressure a lot better in comparison to the clamshell-type machines, but clamshell presses can still do the job.

Pneumatic heat presses are pricier but they allow you to control your pressure more accurately and that is usually the biggest issue we have with presses is working out the correct pressure when the pressure is adjusted manually.

4. Easy to Open and Close
You want a machine that opens in a smooth and fluid motion. An easy-to-open press is even more important if you are producing custom shirts on a daily basis.

5. Digital Time and Temperature
Cheaper heat presses rely on manual or bell timers. They also typically have a dial thermostat.

Whilst this is perfectly fine if you are only using it occasionally, you would want a digital time and temperature control panel for heavier workloads.

Digital settings are also great as you can input your desired settings and use them time and time again.

6. Easy-to-Position Garment
How easily can you place your garment on your heat press? How easy is it to work with precision placement?

7. Platen Size
We would recommend you purchase the largest size platen you can (40 x 50cm is ideal).

8. Warranty
Ensure that you have a look at the length of the warranty that comes with your heat press.

9. Customer Service
What sort of customer service is available for the brand of heat press that you are looking to purchase. If anything goes wrong with the press, you want to know that there is a qualified service representative available to help.

DTF transfers can be applied to many types of fabrics, including some wind- and water-resistant garments. However, manufacturers often treat these garments with special chemical coatings to achieve their resistant properties. These coatings can interfere with the water-based inks used in DTF printing.

While our transfers have successfully adhered to various resistant fabrics, we strongly recommend conducting a test press on a sample garment before full production. This ensures proper adhesion and washability, and helps prevent potential print failures due to chemical incompatibility.

Soft shell jackets are one of the most likely garments to be affected.

Yes, but as always we recommend you test it out for different sublimated products. With sublimation there may be some dye migration. Our transfers have additional white underbase to help prevent this happening but it may still occur.

When pressing on sublimated synthetic fabrics we recommend dropping the temp slightly to 120C-130C.

APPLICATION AND CARE FOR UV DTF TRANSFERS

Clean the surface: Start by cleaning the surface where you plan to apply the decal. Use a lint free cloth and rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt, oil, etc that may be present. Allow the item to air dry before applying.

1. Peel away the backing film: Gently peel the backing paper off the decal. Be very careful not to touch the adhesive side of the decal, this can leave fingerprints or marks on your transfer.

2. Carefully position the decal: Carefully position the decal on the surface. Use your fingers or a plastic card (like a credit card edge) to carefully smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles that appear. Take your time to work the decal onto the surface starting from the centre of the decal and working out to the edges. Remember these transfers are meant to be permanent, so apply carefully.

3. Apply pressure: Once the decal has been placed onto the surface use your fingertips to apply pressure throughout the design. This helps ensure a solid bond between the transfer and surface.

4. Remove clear carrier sheet: Gently peel the clear transfer (carrier) sheet away from the surface. Work slowly to ensure you don't pull up the decal from the surface. If the decal does pull up, just push it back down and rub with firm pressure before trying to remove it again.

Please note: Do not wash or submerge in water for 36 hours after application.

They can be applied to most hard surfaces …

They can be applied to metal, wood, glass, ceramic, plastic, acrylic, PVC, leather and much more …

While UV DTF is incredibly durable, to ensure longevity we recommend avoiding dishwashers and microwaves whenever possible.

Handwashing will help maintain the quality and longevity of the transfer for years to come. UV DTF will hold up well to wear and tear, but be aware that a hard drop or tough scratch may still cause damage to the transfer.

Hand wash only. Do not soak. Do not microwave and avoid extreme heat.

WHY ARE DTF HEAT TRANSFERS BETTER THAN VINYL, DTG AND SCREENPRINTING?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) has rapidly become one of the most versatile and reliable decoration methods for garments and hard surfaces—and for good reason. Here’s what sets it apart:

1. No Weeding Required
Unlike vinyl transfers, DTF eliminates the tedious, time-consuming process of weeding. Your full-colour design is printed onto film and transferred directly to the substrate, saving both time and labour.

2. Full Colour & Photographic Gradients
DTF supports millions of colours, including smooth gradients, fine details, and photographic elements. Unlike screen printing or vinyl, you're not limited by spot colour counts or basic vector shapes.

3. Ultra-Soft Hand Feel
DTF prints are exceptionally soft to the touch—often softer than vinyl or thick screen prints. They bond seamlessly into the fabric surface while retaining flexibility and breathability.

4. Outstanding Durability
DTF transfers resist cracking, fading, and peeling, even after repeated washes. When applied correctly, they remain vibrant and intact for the lifetime of the garment.

5. No Pretreatment Required
Unlike DTG printing (which requires time-consuming fabric pretreatment and curing), DTF can be applied directly to the fabric—no additional prep needed. This drastically reduces production time and eliminates variability caused by pretreatment inconsistencies.

6. Scalable for Any Size or Order Type
Whether you’re printing one item or 1,000, DTF easily scales up or down. You can gang multiple artworks—of different sizes—on a single transfer sheet to reduce waste and maximise efficiency.

7. Unlimited Creative Flexibility
You're not restricted to a small selection of vinyl colours or expensive screen setups. DTF allows you to print any artwork you want, in any style, with complete freedom over size, placement, and detail.

This means more creative freedom for artists, designers, and businesses alike.

8. Multi-Surface Compatibility
DTF isn’t just for t-shirts. It adheres to a wide range of materials, making it one of the most versatile transfer technologies available.

DTF can be applied to:

  • Cotton and cotton blends

  • Polyester and poly blends

  • Canvas and hessian

  • Denim

  • Leather and leatherette

  • Neoprene

  • Wood and MDF

Perfect for customizing apparel, accessories, packaging, and promotional items.

Whether you’re a small business creating on-demand apparel or a large-scale print shop fulfilling complex orders, DTF offers a winning combination of speed, quality, flexibility, and durability that other methods simply can't match.

DISCLAIMERS

Our 24-hour turnaround time refers to the time from artwork approval to when your DTF transfers are ready for dispatch.

Please note the following conditions:
The 24-hour clock starts once your artwork is approved, not from the time the order is placed.

If your artwork requires edits, adjustments, or resubmission, the turnaround will begin after final approval.

Courier delivery times are not included in the 24-hour turnaround. Once dispatched, delivery time is dependent on the shipping provider and location.

We always do our best to meet or exceed our promised turnaround—but during peak periods, unforeseen delays may occur. If your order is time-sensitive, please reach out to confirm current lead times.
